Biography for Anton von Maron

Education

Trained in Vienna, he was studying in Rome in 1755. From 1756-61 he trained with the Neoclassical German painter Anton Raphael Mengs(1728-1779)

Employment

Anton von Maron worked in as a portraitist in Rome in the latter half of the 18th century. His clients where most often visitors to Rome, such as gentlemen on the Grand Tour.
