Education

1922-26 Lucie Rie studied pottery at Kunstgewerbeschule, Vienna, her tutors included Michael Powolny.

Awards

In 1968 Lucie Rie was awarded the OBE, followed by the CBE in 1981 and the DBE in 1991.

Travels

Lucie and her husband Hans Rie fled to England from Austria in late 1938.

Employment

Studio potter.
