Biography for David Reekie
David Reekie was a founder member of British Artists in Glass (now reformed as the Contemporary Glass Society).
David Reekie studied at the Stourbridge College of Art (1967-1970) as well as the Birmingham College of Rat Eductaion (1972-1973). He went on to study for a fellowship in glass at Lincolnshire and Humberside Arts (1975-1980). He trained under Renie Stevens andHarry Seager at Stourbridge College of Art between 1967-1970. Seager, a sculptor in glass ahead of his time, was a formative influence introducing his students to a multimedia, no restrictions approach.Equally important to Reekie was the opportunity to study under a youthful Keith Cummings, now recognised as the father of English cast glass.
Reekie is a sculptor of figurative cast glass.
