Education

He studied at Westminster School of Art in 1902-5 and also at Atelier La Palette in Paris under J.E. Blanche. He also studied at the Slade School in 1908.

Member

He was a member of the Friday Club in 1905 and frequently exhibited with other groups such as the Vorticists and Camden Town Group.

Awards

He received the Medal of Merit from the Paris International Exhibition for Textile Design. He also received 2 honorary doctor of letters; one from the RCA in 1970 and the other from the University of Sussex in 1972.

Travels

During his lifetime he many many visits to France, notably to the south of the country.

Employment

Among other things he taught at the Euston Road School in 1937 and became a co-director of the Omega Workshops in 1913, where they produced textiles, ceramics and carpets. He also designed theatre and ballet sets and costumes.
