Biography for Francis Newton Souza

Born:1924 - Goa, India
Died:2002-03-28

Education

Francis Newton Souza studied art in Bombay in 1940 before being expelled for political activities. Later in 1949 he came to Britain and studied at the Central School of Arts and Crafts.

Member

He founded the Progressive Artists' Group.

Awards

Souza won the Bombay Art Society Award in 1947 and represented Britain in the Guggenheim International Award, New York in 1958.
