EmploymentOchtervelt was a painter of portraits and genre subjects, his best known works depict music lessons. His work shows the influence of the Dutch painters Pieter de Hooch (1629- after 1683), Gerard Terborch (1617-81), and Gabriel Metsu (1629-1667).
