Biography for Jan Joseph van Goyen
EmploymentJan Joseph van Goyen was a pioneer of Dutch realistic landscape painting. He settled at The Hague around 1632 where he remained until his death. His monchromatic landscapes with their low horizons and clouded skies, appear to be based on the many drawings he made as he travelled about the countryside.
