Biography for Jennifer Dickson
EducationJennifer Dickson attended Goldsmith's College in London from 1954 to 1959. MemberShe was elected a Royal Academician in 1976. TravelsDickson has lived and worked in England, France, Jamaica and the U.S.A. and migrated to Canada in 1969. In 1974 she became a Canadian Citizen and settled in Ottawa where she continues to live. EmploymentFrom 1960-1965 Dickson was an Associate of the prestigious graphic workshop, Atelier 17 in Paris, studying under Stanley William Hayter (1901-88). The skills she developed as an etcher gained her an international reputation. As she described in 1967, 'Of all the printmaking media, it is the most complex and frustrating; but it can be the most exciting and provocative'. Since 1979 she has worked in photography, applying her images to colour xerography, etching, and serigraphy, and has been systematically documenting the major architectural gardens of Italy and England. |
