Member

Member of the Royal Academy,1869; President of the Royal Academy, 1878. Knighted 1878; made a baronet in 1886; and a baron in 1896.

Travels

Leighton studied and travelled extensively in Europe.

Employment

Leighton's paintings became mass best sellers in photogravure reproduction, where a photographic image is produced by an engraving process. Though best know as a painter he was also a successful sculptor.
