Education

Lanyon studied privately with Borlase Smart, St Ives 1936, Penzance Art School 1936-37, Euston Road School 1938, and privately with Ben Nicholson in 1939.

Travels

He met Adrian Stokes in 1937, travelled to Johannesburg and Holland in 1937 and met Nicholson, Hepworth and Gabo in 1939. He carried out his military service in the Royal Air Force in the Western desert, Palestine and in Italy from 1940-45.
