Biography for Professor Black

Childhood

Professor Black was born and raised in St. Kitts, in the Caribbean, where he trained as a young man to become a tailor.
In 1961, he came to England. His first job was in a foundry in West Bromwich. Here he started a steel band and began to teach himself performance magic.
During the 1970's, he appeared on programmes such as Opportunity Knocks and New faces. His party trick was to pick up a table with his teeth.
In 1982, he came to the Oaklands Community centre to teach steel band for Birmingham Education
