ChildhoodBorn in Chelsham, Surrey, 3 December 1908. Pasmore studied at Harrow School 1922-26, Central School of Arts and Crafts, London 1927-31, Department of Fine Arts and at King's College (Durham University), 1954-61 (MA 1961). He worked for London County Council 1927-37. He was influenced by the work of the Fauves and Cubists in London 1930-36 and between 1937 and 1940 he founded a teaching studio in Fitzroy Street, London with Claude Rogers. He was the Founder-Director of Euston Road School of Drawing and Painting, London 1937-39, and was an Art Instructor at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts, London 1943-49. Pasmore was Visiting Professor at the Central School of Arts and Crafts, London 1949-53 and organised a summer school in Scarborough 1955-56. He was also Visiting Lecturer at Durham University from 1962-65, and a Trustee of the Tate Gallery, London 1963-66.
