Mourning, or memento mori, rings were often bequeathed in wills to close friends and family to be worn at the funeral and as a reminder to the wearer of the departed.This ring is dedicated to Mary Sampson who died on 27th August 1751 at the age of 85 years.

Bequeathed by Mrs Christina Feeney, 1928.
