Bracelet

This penannular bracelet, probably dating from the late Bronze Age, was excavated from the Lac du Bourget region of Savoy in eastern France. The people in this region lived in well-organised pile dwellings on the marshy banks of lakes, and maintained trading relations with neighbouring groups over an area as wide as the Swiss Lakes and southern Germany.The most important metal objects these peoples produced were personal ornaments such as this bracelet. These are typically made of bronze and are hollow crescent-shaped in section, with well engraved decoration.
