Born in Salisbury, Michael Lloyd graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1976. For ten years he lived on a Dutch barge, sailing the rivers and canals of France, Belgium and Holland. During this time, he raised and chased small bowls with decoration inspired by the surrounding countryside.
The subtle, chased decoration of this bowl reveals Lloyd’s sensitive observation of nature, and his artistic approach to the subject. In his words: " The objective of my work is a spiritual act, an act of thanksgiving for, and linking me to, my surroundings."
