A early study for the first painting in the series of seven canvases illustrating 'The Story of St George' for the dining room of the artist Myles Birket Foster, at Witley, Surrey.

This figure is of Princess Sabra; for the 1866 oil painting 'The Princess in the Garden' currently in the collection of the Musee d'Orsay, Paris.

Purchased and presented by subscribers, 1903.
