Notes | A study for the second painting in the series of seven canvases illustrating 'The Story of St George' for the dining room of the artist Myles Birket Foster, at Witley, Surrey.
A study for the figure of the Chamberlain who stands beside the King in 'The Petition to the King', second panel in the St. George Series. The 1866 oil painting is currently in the collection of Hanover College, Indiana. In the finished painting a scarf hangs from the hat of the Chamberlain, and his face appears thin and gaunt.
