Biography for Carol McNicoll

Childhood

Education

Carol McNicoll attended a foundation course at Solihull College of Technology (1966-67), followed by studying Fine Art at Leeds Polytechnic (1967-70), then studied Ceramics at the Royal College of Art (1970-73).

Employment

Before going to the Royal College of Art, London Carol McNicoll worked as a machinist for the fashion designer Zandra Rhodes. McNicoll makes sculptural but functional ceramics, mainly slip cast vessels for the domestic environment. She also teaches at Camberwell Art School and designs for mass production. Her work has been exhibited widely in Britian and Europe.
