Notes | In 1775 Towne made a tour of Wales where this watercolour was made. His economic use of line and his flat sections of delicate colour have made him of interest to many twentieth century painters, who have found in his approach something of the 'modern'. The watercolour is inscribed on the reverse by the artist with the date 'June 27th 1977' and 'drawn on the spot by Francis Towne'. | | Acquired through the John Feeney Charitable Trust, 1921. |
