Notes | The French Emperor Napoleon III introduced this impressive gold coin in 1855. The small A just to the left of the date (on the reverse) shows that this particular specimen was minted in Paris.
Napoleon III was the nephew of the famous Napoleon and reigned as Emperor from 1852 until 1870.
