Notes | Turner's principal tours in Germany were between 1833 and 1836 but he also travelled up and down the Rhine in the 1840s returning from Switzerland via Heidelberg in 1844. This sketch comes from one of the 'roll' sketchbooks which Turner invariably carried on his travels.
