Notes | Joan Eardley first visited the village of Catterline on the North East Coast of Scotland in 1950. She bought a house there and began to record the village and the rugged coastline in all weathers. She painted on the spot, her boards often battered and blown off the easel by the wind. Her painting style captures her battle with the elements. | | Purchased from Roland, Browse and Delbanco Ltd, 1963. |
