Tea caddy, Harborne, Birmingham, 1914-18
A tea caddy contained tea leaves. This tea caddy shows key personalities in the Allied forces and battle scenes from World War I. There is a transfer print of H. M. King George V on the lid against a union jack with Star of India, arms of Australia, Canada, South Africa and New Zealand. On the front within the shields, Lord Kitchener and Sir John French are depicted against a background battle scene. On the left-hand side are HM King of the Belgians and General Goffre and on the right hand side, H. I. M. Czar of Russia and Grand Duke. The rear shows Rt. Hon. Winston Churchill and Sir John Jellicoe with a scene of naval warfare behind them.
