Jane Adam specialises in using aluminium as a medium for jewellery. Aluminium can absorb certain dyes, inks and stains which have exploited to the full in richly coloured and patterned work. Shapes are often related to natural forms such as shells, leaves or, as in her recent work, the seed pod. Her jewellery has decorative surfaces often inspired by textiles. These surfaces can be painted, printed or, as here, subtly crazed, achieving a continually evolving series of tonalities.
