EmploymentAllen Everitt was a prolific Birmingham artist and antiquarian whose watercolours and drawings provide an comprehensive visual record of the historic architecture of the West Midlands in the 19th century. A friend of the Birmingham-born artist David Cox (1783-1859), he lived much of his life in Edgbaston; first in George Road, and from 1855 at The Grove, 28 Frederick Road, a Regency house nearby.His work comprises drawings of mediaeval churches at a time when many were being extensively restored or rebuilt, as well as Elizabethan and Georgian buildings from both town and country. |
