Dughet was the pupil and brother in law of the painter, Nicholas Poussin (1594-1665), whose more famous name he sometimes used. He painted landscapes, particularly the Roman landscape. His work found a ready market amongst British travellers on the Grand Tour, and was sometimes used as a model for landscaped parks and gardens.
