Biography for Giovanni Pichler
EducationGiovanni was trained by his father Antonio Pichler (1697-1779), and studied under the artist Corvi. EmploymentGiovanni Pichler was a prolific artist, a gem cutter, he also experimented in encaustic and mosaic. He received commissions from prestigious sources including the Vatican and several European courts. In later life he turned entirely to gem cutting producing classical cameos of such quality they were often mistaken for the real thing.
