ChildhoodThe daughter of the artist Harry Hambling, in 1960 Maggi Hambling studied with Arthur Lett-Haines and Cedric Morris who ran East Anglian School of Painting and Drawing before going to Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts 1962-4 and Sale School of Fine Art 1967-9. She was the winner of the Boise Travel Award in 1969 which allowed her to travel to New York. She was also the first artist-in-residence at the National Gallery in 1981 and lives in London.
