ChildhoodBorn Naum Neemia Pevsner in Briansk, Russia 5 August 1890 he was educated at Gymnasium, Kursk, Russia and studied medicine and natural sciences at the University of Munich 1910-12, engineering at the Polytechnium Munich in 1912 and History of Art 1910-12. He visited Florence, Venice and Paris in 1913 and spent the war years in Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo 1914-17. He returned to Russia in 1917 and then to Moscow in 1920. Gabo settled in Berlin 1922-32 and in Paris in 1932 and visited England in 1935. He married Miriam Israels and had a child: Nina-Serafina. He lived in Carbis Bay, Cornwall in 1939 and London in 1944 before settling in the USA in 1946.
